Medical Brigade Update

By Christa Hoffmeier

The Medical Brigade team visited Ranch Ebenezer today. Ranch Ebenezer is a ministry that WGO runs that takes orphans off the streets of Tegucigalpa and gives them a safe home with a Honduran or North American family, a bilingual education, and upbringing in Christian faith. We had the opportunity to tour the facilities including the school building and homes, as well as their agricultural area including the blackberry patch, coffee bushes, and banana trees.

We played a ‘baseball’ game with the school kids and ate lunch with the Construction Brigade team. Our new website pictures highlight the work that the construction team has been doing this week.

We are going to bed early tonight to be rested for another day of medical and spiritual service on Thursday.

Construction Update

by Gerry Werth

We worked a half day, meet up with the Medical brigade for lunch up here at the Ranch. After lunch, the Ranch team went about 6 miles to visit a local family that the minister at the ranch had made contact with. We anticipated about 20 would be present, maybe the immediate family and some cousins.

When we got there, there were already 50 people there, and by the time we left, it was over 100. we didn't quite expect that many cousins, but obviously word of mouth spreads a message faster than cell phones and the internet. We did a short skit about building a house on a rock versus on sand. The expressions on the children's faces indicated they all enjoyed it, and they got the message. One of our team then gave a personal testimony about his childhood, growing up in an orphanage.

We then presented the gospel message with the EvangeCube, and learned that most of the children actually attend a local church, which was good news to us all. We gave the immediate family some food, and passed out clothes, shoes, and toys to all. They smiles on the children's faces were impressionable, and the feeling was that we left with more than we came. Awesome Experience for all.
